My 2025 Reading List

Here are 25 of the (endless) books on my 2025 reading list!

Maine Characters by Hannah Orenstein

Thanks to NetGalley and Dutton, I have an ARC of Maine Characters by Hannah Orenstein! I’m so excited to dive into it. I loved her novel Head Over Heels — you can find my review of the book here

Invisible Strings: 113 Poets Respond to the Songs of Taylor Swift

Invisible Strings: 113 Poets Respond to the Songs of Taylor Swift has so many incredible authors in it — I’m so excited to grab a copy and dive into it. According to Penguin, “The collection showcases a diverse and accomplished array of writers including the 23rd US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, Pulitzer Prize winners Diane Seuss, Yusef Komunyakaa, Carl Phillips, Rae Armantrout, Paul Muldoon, and Gregory Pardlo, National Book Critics Circle Award winners Mary Jo Bang and Laura Kasischke, and bestselling poets Maggie Smith, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Kate Baer, amanda lovelace, Tyler Knott Gregson, and Jane Hirshfield.”

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

I read Hendrix’s How to Sell a Haunted House in 2023 — and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. It was wild and creepy, and it has clearly stuck with me. So I’m excited to give Witchcraft for Wayward Girls a read!

Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney

I ordered Beautiful Ugly as an extra in my December 2024 Book of the Month box (alongside Homeseeking by Karissa Chen). This will be the first book I’ve read by Feeny, but I’ve heard great things!

House of Bone and Rain by Gabino Iglesias

House of Bone and Rain came out in the second half of 2024, and I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. There’s a good bit of the horror/thriller on my list for 2025, and I’ve heard this is a good one.

Atmosphere: A Love Story by Taylor Jenkins Reid

While I haven’t read anything by TJR for a while, I’m really excited to dive back in when Atmosphere is released over the summer. I wrote a review for Malibu Rising a couple of years ago, and you can find it here

Don't Let the Forest in by Cg Drews

I’ve heard really great (read: creepy) reviews about Don't Let the Forest in, and I’m really excited to experience it myself.

The God of the Woods by Liz Moore

The God of the Woods was a pick for the book club at my work a few months back — and I really meant to read it then. But I got swept up in the ACOTAR world and didn’t get time to read it, so it’s going on my 2025 list!

Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave by Elle Cosimano

I’ve been reading the Finlay Donovan series for a while now, but I am a book behind! Once I’m caught up, I’m excited to see what hijinks she gets herself into during Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave, which is set to release in March.

Men Have Called Her Crazy: A Memoir by Anna Marie Tendler

Men Have Called Her Crazy was on the staff picks at my favorite bookshop in Savannah the last time I was there, so I ended up buying it. The note inside said it was the bookseller’s favorite memoir, which has me intrigued!

This Book Will Bury Me by Ashley Winstead

Set to release in October, This Book Will Bury Me feels like it’s going to be filled with twists, turns, and traps. Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark, I also have an ARC of this book and am excited to dive into it!

One-Star Romance by Laura Hankin

One-Star Romance has been on my list for a while, so I’m excited to finally read it in 2025. The premise just really piques my interest, and it’ll be nice to throw a romance in between all the thriller and horror I want to read next year (oops!).

Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brené Brown

Again, this book has been on my list for a while. Honestly, it’s on the edge of my bookshelf, and it has started staring at me, so it’s time to take it down and read it. I’ve heard great things about Atlas of the Heart, so I’m excited to experience it for myself.

We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer

Don’t worry — we didn’t get out of the thriller/horror genre for too long. We Used to Live Here was released in the summer of 2024, and features some of my favorite horror subplots, including an unreliable narrator and a (possibly) haunted house.

By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult

By Any Other Name was another book club pick I didn’t get around to reading yet. (Are you seeing a pattern?) Anyway, I’ve been a Picoult fan for a long time, and I’m excited to give this one a read, too. (Funny enough, I was given this one as a holiday gift!)

Only If You're Lucky by Stacy Willingham

Another one that’s on my shelf staring at me: Only If You're Lucky. I’ve read a couple of other books by Willingham, A Flicker in the Dark and All the Dangerous Things (the latter of which was my favorite).

Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham

I’m also excited to read Willingham’s 2025 release, Forget Me Not. In other words, if Willingham writes it, I’m pretty likely to read it.

I Might Be in Trouble by Daniel Aleman

A writer, dark comedy, and sticky situations? I’m already invested. I Might Be in Trouble was released in late 2024, and I didn’t have a chance to read it yet.

Sandwich by Catherine Newman

I’ve read a lot of reviews and blurbs that make me excited to read Sandwich, and I’m hopeful I’ll read it in 2025!

The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters

A 2023 release, The Berry Pickers has been on my radar for a while!

Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology

Another 2023 release, I’ve seen Never Whistle at Night gaining so much traction in 2024, and I’m eager to read it. Plus, I love a good anthology!

How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley

I’ll be honest — I don’t know much about How to Age Disgracefully yet, but the cover and title caught my attention.

Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell

Another one that’s been on my list for a while, Cultish explores, well, cults. Always an interesting topic, and I’ve seen reviews of this book floating around for a while. Excited to check it out in 2025!

Happy Place by Emily Henry

I’m very behind on the world of Emily Henry books — and I hope to read Happy Place (among others) — to catch up!

All the Other Mothers Hate Me by Sarah Harman

While I’m not familiar with Harman or her work, the premise of All the Other Mothers Hate Me really struck me as unique. This book is set to release in March 2025!

So Many Books, Only So Many Days

In addition to these, I’ve got some other incredible ARCs lined up to read in the next few months. You can find my full 2025 reading list — and a couple of others — here on Bookshop
